Issues

Every position lived, not theorized.

01

Criminal Justice Reform

The system doesn't rehabilitate. The book does: the Inside edition of Thrown, in every prison, through Chaplain Ray's ministry.

Every week I show up in the gang and murder unit of a Florida jail, running AA meetings for men the system has already written off.

The system doesn't rehabilitate. The Inside edition of my book, Thrown, reaching a man's hand at the moment he needs it most, does: distributed through Chaplain Ray's International Prison Ministry, into every prison in America. I know what that moment feels like because I've lived it.

Every system I've been run through (legal, military, education, religious, financial) was built by the same architects, running the same playbook, since before this country existed. That's not cynicism. That's what my own life has taught me, and the full account is in Thrown.

My platform on this isn't a policy paper. It's the book, in every prison in America, not a pilot in one state: that's the mission. I know what a man needs in a cell because I've handed it to him myself. That's the credential.

Addiction & Recovery

Trauma is the disease, not genetics, proved by my own genome. The war is on the wound, not the man.

Trauma is the disease. Not genetics. I proved it in my own body: full genome sequencing, 84 million variants, four generations of alcoholism in my family tree and zero genetic predisposition for any of it. The war has never been on the man. It's on the wound.

I got sober on July 12, 2009, at twenty years old, and I've stayed sober for 17 years since. I ran Genesis Recovery. I managed West Coast Recovery Centers. I've sat in more rooms than most licensed counselors ever will, and I've watched the science catch up to what those rooms already knew.

My platform is built from inside recovery, not adjacent to it: fund trauma treatment the way we fund every other public health emergency, because that's what this is. Stop treating addiction as a moral failure to be punished and start treating it as an injury to be healed.

Veterans & Disability

The men who come home broken built this country. You don't leave them in the waiting room for two years.

Like my forefathers, I served in the U.S. Air Force, from 2007 to 2008, on Minuteman II ICBM crews, one of the hardest non-cryptography assignments in the service. My time in uniform ended with a general discharge under honorable conditions after a suicide attempt at 130 miles per hour.

I live with PTSD and two traumatic brain injuries. I filed my own VA disability claim in November 2024, and it was denied in March 2025. I fought it the same way any veteran has to fight it: alone, on paperwork, against a bureaucracy that treats a two-year wait as acceptable. As of October 2026, I'm rated 70% service-connected.

I'm not speaking about veterans' issues from the outside. I am the constituent. My platform is straightforward: cut the VA claims backlog to weeks, not years, and fund the mental health infrastructure that should have caught me before I ever hit 130 miles per hour.

Education & Opportunity

The pipeline is broken at the source. Fix the source, not the leaks.

I was expelled from my first high school in 2004 and transferred to a second, better one, where trouble followed me anyway, enough suspensions and alternative-school placements that graduating at all wasn't a given. I graduated in 2007, the only person in my friend group who did.

Grossmont College came next: a 3.97 GPA and commencement speaker. I wrote the speech before the school had even chosen me to give it, certain they would. Then I applied to Stanford, and they accepted me. I graduated with Departmental Honors in Psychology, a 3.82 GPA, and published research out of the Decision Neuroscience Lab. Right after graduating, I became Resident Manager at Genesis Recovery, living in an RV or on the grounds with the residents the whole time. I became a self-taught software engineer who rose to Head of Engineering at an enterprise company.

The pipeline isn't broken somewhere in the middle; it's broken at the source. My platform fixes the source, not the leaks: second-chance admissions, disclosed-record pathways, and funding that follows the student who was failed, not the institution that failed him.

Deaf & Disability Rights

I'm the only candidate in this race who speaks ASL at a native level.

My son was born Deaf. I became fluent in American Sign Language before he was even born, because I wasn't going to be a father who couldn't speak his own child's language. I moved my entire family to St. Augustine, Florida, so he could attend the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind, the largest school for Deaf children in America.

That wasn't a guess. I ran the federal data analysis myself, using U.S. Department of Education data, and the numbers were clear: state schools for the Deaf produce better outcomes than mainstream placement for Deaf children.

Disability is not a deficit to be accommodated. It's a difference to be met on its own terms. My platform funds Deaf education at the level the data, not the sentiment, says it deserves.

Race & Truth

One race. The genome proves it.

There is one race. The genome proves it, and I didn't have to take anyone's word for it; I ran the DNA analysis on my own family, 84 million variants, and found what the science already knew: whiteness as a category is five to eight thousand years old, a sliver of human history, not a biological fact.

My own family is white now but used to be Black. That's not a metaphor. That's genealogy: four bloodlines, Scottish prisoners of war, Sicilian immigrants who survived the largest single mass lynching in American history in 1891 New Orleans, roots in Oklahoma, and a name (Morris, from the Latin Mauricius) that means dark-skinned, Moorish. Every one of those four lines carries slavery, servitude, or oppression in it. No exceptions.

The race war this country keeps fighting is a lie built on a category that doesn't hold up under a microscope. My platform starts from that fact, not from a talking point: policy built on the biology we actually have, not the categories we invented to divide it.

Faith & Healing

Faith is a posture, not a performance.

On March 8, 2026, I was on my knees in the dirt and something in me changed permanently. Five days later, on March 13, I went through something I can only describe as involuntary healing: movements I'd never studied, undoing injuries with a precision no physical therapist could explain.

I don't lead with those two days to convert anyone. I lead with them because faith, to me, isn't a performance you put on for a camera; it's a posture you hold when no one's watching. That's why I run AA meetings inside a jail every single week. Not as a program. Not for a photo. That's why I tithe, not because anyone's counting, but because the posture only means something if it costs you something.

Every tradition humanity has ever built maps back to the same root: one tree, holding up every branch of belief people have ever reached for. My platform on faith is about protecting the right of every person to hold theirs.

Single Fatherhood

Father of seven. I show up.

I am a father of seven children, and I show up for every one of them. I became fluent in American Sign Language before my son was even born, and I moved my entire family across the country so he could attend the best school for Deaf children in America.

Everything I have built (the platform, the ministry, the campaign itself) exists because of my kids, not despite them. Single fatherhood isn't a biography detail for me. It's the service facet of who I am, made real in the most literal way possible: showing up, every day.

My platform on family policy starts from that lived reality: support structures for single parents that assume they're trying, not that they're failing, because I know the difference from the inside.

Custody & Family Court

The system is designed to exhaust the parent who has the least. I haven't quit.

Family court is a system designed to exhaust the parent who has the least: the least money, the least time, the least power to simply outlast it. I've had custody cases in every state I've lived in: California, Texas, Florida. I know that system from the inside, fighting through it myself while disabled and without the resources to hire the attorney who could make it move faster. I haven't quit, and I won't.

This isn't a weakness in my candidacy. It's the credential. I'm not speaking about family court reform as an outside observer with a policy binder. I'm speaking as someone living through what millions of parents live through every year, and my platform reflects what that experience has actually taught me: that the system currently punishes parents for being poor, not for being unfit.

Homelessness & Housing

I lived in an RV as Resident Manager at Genesis Recovery. Housing is a human right built on earned dignity, not charity.

Right after graduating Stanford, I lived in an RV or on the grounds with the residents while serving as Resident Manager at Genesis Recovery. Today, I'm taking my campaign for President of the United States across the country in an RV. I say that not as a hardship story but as a statement of consistency: the same commitment, the same work, at a different scale, regardless of what my address looked like at the time.

Housing is a human right, but the way we currently deliver it incentivizes instability instead of solving for it. My platform is built around earned dignity, not charity: you work, you build, you own, the same model I've applied everywhere else I've built something, including the ownership structure of my own record label, where the artist keeps everything instead of the platform extracting from them.

Marriage & Divorce

I believe in the institution. I failed it, and I own that: full accountability, no spin.

I believe in marriage as an institution. I failed at it once, and I'm not going to spend this campaign making excuses for that. The accountability is written into my book, unfiltered: what addiction cost my family, what commitment actually requires, and what I got wrong before I understood either.

I bring that failure into my platform on purpose, because a candidate who's only ever theorized about marriage and family has less to offer than one who's lived through what breaks it.
